Broken Hill awarded Top Jury Prize

This past weekend the 2010 International Family Film Festival (IFFF) awarded BROKEN HILL the “Director’s Gold Spirit Award” the top jury prize awarded by the Fest.
“Every year the IFFF directors seek that one film that best embodies the spirit of independent family cinema,” said IFFF co-founder Chris Shoemaker. “This year we’re please to announce the Spirit Award goes to the sensational film BROKEN HILL”.
The Award was presented during a gala held at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, California. “We are so honored by this recognition from the IFFF,” said BROKEN HILL’S Chris Wyatt as he accepted the award. “Independent family film is so fortunate to have a platform like the IFFF to support this kind of filmmaking.”
The award follows on the heels of a successful festival screening in which audiences members enthusiastically mobbed BROKEN HILL cast/crew guests Alexa Vega, Sean Covel, and Christopher Brady with questions.
“It was very gratifying,” says Covel. “Usually at festivals maybe 60% or 70% of the audience stays for the after-film Q&A sessions. At IFFF 100% of the audience stayed– Every single one, without exception! It was almost overwhelming!”
Congratulations again to all the team and supporters of Broken Hill The Movie.

How about showing this show in Australia, or better yet how about an actual screening in Broken Hill itself?
I’m hearing about all these free screenings and awards won but none of which are in Australia, better yet i bet the Broken Hill Cinema owner will have to fight tooth and nail and pay a huge price to even show this movie named after our town.
Working in film myself, i hate seening everyone use our name but not giving anything back to the community, A free screening or 2 would be good, but i wouldn’t hold my breath
Great site. Awesome.
One question, though. On your cast and crew page…shouldn’t the EDITOR of the film get a credit? The Cinematographer did.
Thanks!

When can we see it in Australia?
